Here is a simple how-to guide that will ensure that your Facebook business page gets updated so that you can share your business’ activity, sales, events, and more through social media.
1. Open Facebook in an Internet browser
At the end of the blue band across the top of the page is an arrow. Click on it. That will open a menu. At the top of the menu is a section called Your Pages. Click on your page. This will open your Facebook business page.
Note: If, like me, you run more than one Facebook business page, click on See More… That will load the page with all of your business pages listed. Click on the page you want to update.
2. Add your update to your Facebook business page.
Underneath the cover image area, there are two columns. On the righthand column there is a box that says “Write something…” That’s where you want to write or paste the information that you would like to share.
Note: Don’t forget to add a link or as much relevant information to the post as possible! If you want your reader to do something after they read your message, it’s best to send them to a link where they can do what you want them to do. E.g. buy a product, sign up for an event, etc.
3. Add an image to make the post more attractive
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and Facebook allows you to accompany your post with an image. To add an image click on the camera icon below the window where you are editing the text. That opens an explorer window where you can navigate to the folder on your computer where you saved the image.
Once the image is loaded and you are satisfied with your post, click on the Publish button.
BONUS! Link to other Facebook business pages
If you are working with another business, it is a good idea to “tag” them in the post that you’re writing so that they can share it with their Facebook business page followers. Type the name of the business starting with an @ symbol. The @ symbol begins a link in Facebook. As you begin typing, a pop up menu will open below with options of other pages that you can tag in the space with the words you’re using.
Note: Be careful who you tag in the post – some business’ share similar names, but have nothing to do with each other. A general rule of thumb is to first find the Facebook business page of the company you wish to link by searching for their name through Facebook’s search bar at the top of every Facebook page.
Once you have selected the correct page, the words will be highlighted in blue to show that it is a link.
To add the vendor advertisement image, click on the camera icon below the window where you are editing the text. That opens an explorer window where you can navigate to the folder on your computer where you saved the image.
Once the image is loaded below the advertising copy window, click on the Publish button.
